In 1998 a group of long term VAR's got together and formed OpenPro to build a web or browser based ERP software package the was open in design, architecture and source code.  The idea was to build a ERP software package could run on any Operating system, Hardware and use any standard SQL database. This software package will then open the doors to any potential customer.  The OpenPro product is also unique where the customer has many options on the purchase preference, they can have it hosted (ASP) or install the software in-house.  This was the start of OpenPro ERP Software.

At first we started the business using Progress 4 GL language, but we ran into problems related to its not being a Open Architecture  and Open Source Product.    http://www.openpro.com/arch.html

Now OpenPro is the first completely web based ERP business software in the industry. 

First to integrate document imaging.

First to integrate work flow.

First to give customers the options to purchase, rented/hosted/software as a service, purchase with or with out source.

Other packages like Microsoft has a 3 to 5 year plan on moving there product to the web and catch up to OpenPro.

In the past few years we have added over 75 partners both in the United States and International locations to help serve our customers.

OpenPro is a privately held company, and has been profitable since 2001.  OpenPro has been growing every year and is expecting to grow 30 to 40% from last year and keep the growth for the next 5 years or more.     OpenPro is self funded and profitable organization.

Plans for 2007 and the future:

- Keep improving the OpenPro Product. On going.

- Integrate more modules to the package (machine maintenance, camera security, payroll (US and Canada), tax tables integration, improve capacity planning (in Process), job costing Completed 4/05, wireless bar-coding Completed 08/05 with SYMBOL PARTNERSHIP, RFID and business rules) and increase our International Presence  (Improve the multi-language and multi-currency capabilities (in Process)).

- Open up more SQL database options. Completed 03/05

- Work flow and document imaging integration. Completed 05/05

- Improve the documentation and manuals  Completed 12/05

- Add open source report writer capabilties.  For Linux and other platforms, decided to use Jasper reports, also at the same time Crystal Reports latest version now has a Linux version.  We also wrote a PHP report builder and generator.  Completed 05/05

- Communications module, where a customer and vendor record is setup with requested ways to communicate with OpenPro System.   Integrate with Hylafax software, setup a web based fax maintenance program. Completed 12/05

2008 Plans and the future.

- Increase Marketing efforts. On going to get the name OpenPro on the market.

- Increase Customer Base. On Going as we add new distributors, customers and market share.

- CMMS module for machine maintenance

- Enhance HRS module and payroll for international process.

- International, increase our International foundation of partners in Asia, Europe and South America.

- Multi-language and multi-currency.

Our business model of having an open source product, helps us to improve the system on a monthly basis.
